Exhibition “ABYSS – City of Venice 2012”
Cetacean Gallery, Natural History Museum of Venice
From October 13 to November 11, 2012

Thirty extraordinary photographs, selected by a panel of experts, are displayed in the suggestive Gallery of Cetaceans of the Natural History Museum of Venice at the end of the 5th edition of the International Underwater Photography “ABYSS – City of Venice 2012”, organised by the Organizing Committee of UnderwaterPhotoVenice, the Underwater Club San Marco and the Argo Group Underwater Research. The competition, sponsored by the City of Venice and Scubaportal, has been realized with the contribution of, Easydive, Ingemar, TiozzoSub, National Cordage, Don This, Photo Lion, FotoFranco Dei Rossi Shipping, GIOSUB, Isolde, Line Valentina, Maredicarta, Boating Sea, International Diving, Diving Academy, Water Diving, Underwater Photography Shop, Nimar, Nikon Parisi Sub, Effe Glassware, Glassware and Yalos Murano Formia.

Became a must-attend photo contest, the “International Underwater Photography Competition” refers to diving subjects within the Mediterranean and tropical areas. In these five editions, the competition saw the participation of the most famous underwater photographers from Italy and abroad, who have “captured” more than 1,200 images in the seas around the globe. This year the contest will be assisted by the Natural History Museum of Venice, which reinforces even more the will of the organizers to promote love and respect for the sea and for the organisms that inhabit it. The photographic material collected in the various editions of the competition will therefore enrich the archives of the Natural History Museum of Venice, for research, teaching and education aims.

INFORMATION:

Entry to the exhibition is free on the afternoon of Saturday, October 13 (opening), then admission with the museum (free for citizens and residents in the Municipality of Venice).
The exhibition is open according to the opening hours of the Museum.
