Cetaceans Gallery

Located on the ground floor, the Cetacean Gallery features the impressive skeleton of a fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus), almost 20 metres long, and that of a young sperm whale (Physeter catodon), both suspended from the ceiling in structures made entirely of steel.

The west wing of the portico is made even more immersive by the stunning underwater photographs by environmental photographer Hussain Aga Khan. Displayed on the glass windows, the large-scale images create captivating plays of light, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the deep blue of the marine world.
The Gallery is completed by an extensive graphic display providing information on the curiosities, characteristics, habits, ecology and conservation of cetaceans, as well as an audio device featuring recordings of the songs of these “giants” of the sea.
