The Fontego dei Turchi
On the ground floor, visitors will find an inclusive, multisensory area dedicated to the Fontego dei Turchi, one of the most distinctive Venetian palaces overlooking the Grand Canal, which has housed the museum since its establishment in 1923.
The space features two models, created by Prossimi ETS in collaboration with Fablab Venezia. 3D-printed using a naturally derived biopolymer, they have been specifically designed for tactile exploration and are accompanied by captions that also include Braille text.
One model provides a detailed reproduction of the Fontego dei Turchi, created through extensive 3D modelling, showcasing its architecture and majestic façade.
The second model was produced using 3D scanning, 3D printing and artistic post-production techniques. It faithfully reproduces, at a 1:1 scale, the patera located at the apex of the entrance portal of the building, which inspired the museum’s logo.
